Arts Alive Auditions 2020! Calling all singers, dancers, musicians and entertainers!

Auditions for the 24th Annual Arts Alive are open to students and employees of Seminole County Public Schools. We are looking for a variety of entertainment, creative and upbeat, with SCPS students/staff. We need solos, duets, small and large group performers from all genres of the arts including vocal, dance, instrumental, and theater. Feel free to showcase how you are adapting your performances during COVID-19. Since the event is virtual, we also have the opportunity to showcase new types of talent such as digital animation or TV production.

We attempt to have representation of individuals and groups from schools throughout the district, a variety of grade levels and highlight district programs. We will also be looking for instrumental reception entertainment during our “virtual waiting room.”

Just like our event, auditions will be virtual this year. You will video your own audition, upload to YouTube and submit the Audition Submission Application between Tuesday, September 15th and Wednesday, October 7th. Consider partnering with your school’s video production team to film your performance.

Those who are chosen will have their performance professional recorded, if needed, in late October at a SCPS school site. You will be provided a specific time to arrive for your performance. With the year’s virtual format, all performances will be prerecorded and then premiered on November 14, 2020 during the fundraiser.

Arts Alive Frequently Asked Questions

What is Arts Alive?

Arts Alive is a fundraising event hosted by The Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools. As much of the world is doing right now, Arts Alive is shifting to meet the needs of the district. Not only is our 2020 event going virtual but also is expanding to benefit the arts and much more! Funds raised will continue to support arts enrichment for all students as well as other Foundation programs including STEM, scholarships, and essential supplies for students. We welcome the community to sample our traditional program from the comfort of their own home while raising funds to support the arts and more in Seminole County Public Schools. The evening includes an amazing silent auction, fun interactive activities and of course, the highlight of the night – an incredible show highlighting our talented students and exciting programs within our schools.

What types of performances are The Foundation and judges looking for?

We are looking for a variety of entertainment, upbeat and lively, with SCPS students/staff. We need solos, duets, small and large group performers from all genres of the arts including vocal, dance, instrumental, and theater. We attempt to have representation of individuals and groups from schools throughout the district, a variety of grade levels and highlight district programs. We will also be looking for instrumental reception entertainment during our “virtual waiting room.”

While the judges are always amazed at the amount of talent in our schools, due to timing restrictions only a limited number of acts will be selected. With the year’s virtual format, all performances will be professionally prerecorded in late October and then premiered on November 14, 2020 during the fundraiser.

Who can audition?

Auditions are open to all current Seminole County Public School students and employees. Family members may perform along with a student or employee.

All students and employees who complete the Audition Submission Application between Tuesday, September 15th and Wednesday, October 7th will have their audition video considered.

How do I audition?

Just like our event, auditions will be virtual this year. You will video your own audition, upload to YouTube and submit the Audition Submission Application between Tuesday, September 15th and Wednesday, October 7th . Consider partnering with your school’s video production team to film your performance.

Please read the steps below carefully on how to submit your information and video to The Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools for the judges’ review.

  1. Video Your Audition: Either video yourself or have someone video for you. Be sure to introduce yourself/your group, grade level and school before your performance. Your video can be no longer than 4 minutes. You are expected to audition in the same attire you would perform in for the event. Vocal-free background music is encouraged for vocal performances and can be purchased at websites such as www.musicminsone.com and www.pocketsongs.com
  2. Upload Your Video to YouTube: Be sure your video is unlisted and comments are turned off. You should include your name (or names of those in the group), grade level(s), school(s) and type of performance in your video details. You will need the video link when you submit your Audition Submission Application. Here is a link on how to upload unlisted videos to YouTube.
  3. Submit your video audition using the Audition Submission Application form: Once your video audition is complete and uploaded unlisted on YouTube, you’re ready to submit your Audition Submission Application form. This can be done starting Tuesday, September 15th through Wednesday, October 7th. Be sure to fill out the form completely. The online Audition Submission Application form can be found on The Foundation’s website: www.FoundationSCPS.org.

Following the Wednesday, October 7th deadline, all the videos will be sorted by The Foundation and shared with our 2020 judges. Due to the anticipated high number of video applications, we do not anticipate having our final selection until October 15th.
