Frequently Asked Question

What is Arts Alive?

The Arts Alive gala, presented by Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital, is a fundraising gala hosted by The Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools. Since its inception in 1996, Arts Alive has distributed more than $1.9 million to support programs within Seminole County Public Schools. Thanks to the generous support of local businesses and individuals, funds raised will continue to support school and district programs in the areas of the visual and performing arts, STEM, scholarships, essential supplies for students and more.

The evening includes an exciting auction, art gallery, dinner, a look into exciting programs within our schools and to top it off, an incredible professionally produced show highlighting our talented students.

What types of performances are The Foundation and judges looking for?

We are looking for a variety of entertainment, creative and upbeat, with SCPS students/staff. We need solos, duets, small and large group performers from all genres of the arts including vocal, dance, instrumental, and theatre.

Feel free to wow the judges with unique, high energy, one-of-a-kind performances or collaboration between genres and styles.  We will also be looking for a couple of instrumental reception entertainment option during our reception and during dinner.

We attempt to have representation of individuals and groups from schools throughout the district, a variety of grade levels and highlight district programs.

While the judges are always amazed at the amount of talent in our schools, due to timing restrictions only a limited number of acts will be selected to perform at the November 13th event.

Who can audition?

Auditions are open to all current Seminole County Public School students and employees. Family members may perform along with a student or employee.

All students and employees who complete the Audition Submission Application between Tuesday, September 7th and Tuesday, September 28th will have their audition video considered.

How do I audition?

Auditions are only being held virtually. You will video your own audition, upload to YouTube and submit the Audition Submission Application between Tuesday, September 7th and Tuesday, September 28th. If this is a school-based group or involves multiple students, consider partnering with your school’s video production team to film your performance. The video must be a current video and all students must be currently enrolled in Seminole County Public Schools.

Please read the steps below carefully on how to submit your information and video to The Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools for the judges’ review.

  1. Video Your Audition: Either video yourself or have someone video for you. Be sure to introduce yourself/your group, grade level and school before your performance. Your video can be no longer than 4 minutes. You are expected to audition in the same attire you would perform in at the event. Vocal-free background music is encouraged for vocal performances and can be purchased at websites such as www.musicminsone.com and www.pocketsongs.com
  2. Upload Your Video to YouTube: Be sure your video is unlisted and comments are turned off. You should include your name (or names of those in the group), grade level(s), school(s) and type of performance in your video details. You will need the video link when you submit your Audition Submission Application. Here is a link on how to upload unlisted videos to YouTube – https://youtu.be/JOr7JluzEOM.
  3. Submit your video audition using the Audition Submission Application form: Once your video audition is complete and uploaded unlisted on YouTube, you’re ready to submit your Audition Submission Application form. This can be done starting Tuesday, September 7th and Tuesday, September 28th. Be sure to fill out the form. The online Audition Submission Application form can be found here on The Foundation’s website: FoundationSCPS.org/auditions.

Following the September 28th deadline, all the videos will be sorted by The Foundation and shared with our 2021 judges. Due to the anticipated high number of video applications, we do not anticipate having our final selection until October 15th.

If you have technical difficulties with your video audition, please contact your school’s performing arts teacher or your video production team.

What if I’m selected to perform at Arts Alive?

Those who are chosen will perform live at this fundraiser on Saturday, November 13th, you will be provided a specific time to arrive to the Westin Lake Mary that evening. You MUST also be available for a mandatory dress rehearsal on the afternoon/evening of Friday, November 12th. You will also be required to send bio details by October 29th. Details for that bio will be provided upon selection.
