We all know high school students like to be connected to their phones, so teacher Jordan Orlewicz took advantage of this to create a learning experience. Jordan received a grant from the Foundation to have his students design and build solar-powered phone charging stations at Oviedo High School.
The students came together to construct the station, which not only fostered teamwork skills, but built analytical and engineering skills beyond the classroom. By combining project-based learning with real-life applications, this initiative empowered students to explore the future of renewable energy and apply physics concepts in meaningful ways.
Even though this is a brand new project, the teacher shared that they have already seen students utilizing the solar panel station in the mornings and during lunch breaks. This brought the students hope that they can create more engaging areas to the campus.
“On behalf of Oviedo High School and all the students who contributed to this project, we thank you and the Foundation. We hope that our success and momentum lead us to yet another exciting project to be completed next year.” – Jordan Orlewicz
Donations to the Foundation help us make projects like this possible so we can continue to inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists, and innovators!
